Bio
From the time I was a teenager, I have believed deeply in the power of art, studying photography and painting in art school. After art school I moved toward New York City, establishing a storefront studio in Hoboken, NJ. I worked as an artist's assistant, and also began working with young people living near my studio. This helped spur my interest in psychology, which eventually led to getting a PhD and starting a practice as a psychologist, I've written books on the psychology of young people which have been translated into different languages, and have had opportunities to give talks about my books all over the world.
I've loved working as a psychologist, and have loved living in coastal Rhode Island where I could grow blueberries and build boats. Painting has allowed me to recover part of my original self, reminding me of the transformative power of art, and reminding me that I never stopped being a painter.
